Vintage-Murano-Barovier and Toso Sommerso-Orange and White with Aventurine
A delightful and beautiful Vintage-Murano Seguso Art Glass Centerpiece Bowl With Aventurine-Circa 1960's. The centerpiece bowl is highlighted by a opaque white exterior and bright orange interior and Aventurine over the entire surface. Aventurine is a form of quartz, characterised by its translucency and the presence of plate like mineral inclusions that give a shimmering or glistening effect termed Aventurescence. Chrome-bearing fuchsite (a variety of muscovite mica) is the classic inclusion, and gives a silvery appearance. The name aventurine derives from the Italian "a ventura" meaning "by chance". This alludes to the "by chance" discovery of aventurine glass. The bowl is in good condition with the exception of a few scratches on the base. They do not detract from the beauty of this piece and I have never had a guest turn my things upside down. It is beautiful, fully functional and free of any chips cracks or repair. It has been reduced. Please see photo of the bottom. The dimensions are:7" x 7"x 2 3/4"
