Vintage McCOY POTTERY, Wishing Well Planter, Brown Green & Gold Glaze, Excellent
This beautiful, Vintage McCoy Pottery Planter is a superb example of Art Pottery from a collectible maker. Made in the 1930's-1940's Era, it comes to you in Excellent Condition with NO damage. This is the popular "Wishing Well" piece, done in a gorgeous multi-colored glaze with colors of Brown, Olive Green and some Golden Yellows. Along each side of the Well, one can see molded flowers. On one side, beneath these flowers, is a bucket with an actual, heavy metal handle. At the top beam of the well, beneath the roof, hangs the old metal Chain. A bit of chain is also seen on the handle of the pottery bucket. I have seen a few of these pieces that show the chain coming from the handle to the beam above the well, but this piece has only a portion of the chain that is quite long, but not long enough to reach the bucket. The roof shows molded "shingles" and the well's base features molded "bricks". Around the opening to the well, beneath the top row of bricks, you see the words, "OH WISHING WELL" with a small star between each word. This phrase continues around the back with "GRANT A WISH TO ME". On the back side you can see a Horseshoe molded on the wooden post at the side of the well. A hole is seen on each side of the upper portion of the well (within the flowers on each side). I am not sure if there was a hanger here or why these holes were created, but they were done during the actual production of the piece, as is quite evident when looking.. This wonderful find is in Excellent Condition with NO problems found! It could use a good cleaning but other than that, it is Fabulous!
