Both Fulbe and Hausa women use powder in it still, the tag say's "Container Jar bcohl Used to blacken women's eyes from Keno Nigeria". Its written in a hard to read, very old type of cursive, writing. It was Charles L. Tutt himself that wrote these tags.
As you can see in the photo with the lid open the color on that is the same as powder inside I think it must be Henna.
The leather work was done by an expert very tight and complicated designs on it. Looks like could have been made yesterday all the dyes are perfect.
