Antique 18th Century Wood Shan Buddha Red Lacquered and Gilded Burma (Myanmar)
I am proud to have this antique wonderful piece from the past. The Buddha, with his right palm on his chest, is in the gesture of taking a bath (after a drought). I think this gesture is seen only in Buddhas from Myanmar. This one is thought to be from the 18th century Ava period (1618 - 1789) very possibly a little earlier than that. He is Red Lacquered and Gilded has a wonderful surface and the carving is very distinctive and attributed to piece from this time. It is believed by many the wood absorbs spiritual energy so when being held it transfers it to you, It has a very calming effect. 13" tall 3 1/4" base no damage or repairs.
